WORSHIP (WITNESS) MINISTRIES

At St. Luke we define worship as being ushered into God’s presence. Worship is where we connect with God and is a time when we interact with each other on a deeper spiritual level. For More Information or to Join a Witness Ministry, please contact Monya Logan mlogan@slcumc.org

Acolyte Ministry provides children with a meaningful opportunity to be involved and serve in the Lord’s House as helpers and attendants in the Worship service. Acolyte means follower or attendant. The acolytes duties include lighting and extinguishing the altar candles and in assisting with the offering.

Altar & Flower Guild prepares the sanctuary for our celebration of praise and worship. This ministry assists in maintaining a place where one can establish a personal relationship with God.

Media Ministry provides audio, visual, advertising support, and outreach ministry services through media.

Communion Stewards serves St. Luke through the preparation and serving of the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and participation in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.

Greeters Ministry is the vehicle through which the church provides its congregation, newcomers, and visitors, a personal expression of Christian warmth and welcome. We are one on one, face to face, hand to hand, heart to heart ministry. We are the first people others meet when they arrive at the church!

Hospitality Ministry coordinates receptions for various church-wide functions of the church. Includes Hanging of the Greens, Training Sessions, Revivals, etc.

BMCR- The mission of Black Methodists for Church Renewal is to raise up prophetic and spiritual leaders who will be advocate for the unique needs of Black people in the United Methodist church.

Sacred Dance Ministries-In the name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, who is made known to us through the Holy Scriptures and by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we will dance in praise and thanksgiving through the use of our limbs and the commitment of our hearts. Together we will minister God’s word to our church family, each other and the community. We commit ourselves to be faithful stewards by serving and leading God’s people to be disciplined disciples.

Ushers Ministries For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10 Our Purpose To serve in a manner that enhances the flow of the Worship Celebration Service. The purpose of this ministry is to reflect the Christian dedication of the pastor and all who come to worship. Our vision is to transformed so that we are better equipped to do the work that the ushers has been called to do.
